I haven't tried to draw anything seriously since almost a year ago when I picked up electric guitar, and have been playing at least three hours a day at minimum. It's like crack, and I'm not even good! Just playing Angel of Death and assorted metallica/iced earth/primordial songs is enough to keep me entertained for HOURS on end that fly by like nothing. I'm starting to think that I should have done music when I was younger. I'm 21 and I'm just now starting something that I'm obsessing over enough that I could possibly make a living from it. I guess it's never to late to find another way of expressing yourself.

I just got done with a semester of piano, guitar, and music theory. My favorite class hands down was music theory. I dominated that class. I fucking raped the final and was done in a half hour...And we had two hours to do it. Music theory is like another illegal substance, only more addicting! It's odd...I think I like music more than drawing(which I had been doing since I was little) is because, unlike that kind of art, playing an instrument is more structured and easier to predict and recreate once you've gotten it down. For example: playing an instrument to me is fun in the way that I like playing games like WoW. WoW has a definitive set of rules that governs every action you can make, and once you learn all those rules, you can manipulate the game to get what you want out of it. Drawing/painting etc. to me is hit or miss. Sometimes I sit down and doodle something badass that turns out pretty well(to me), but most of the time it's shit and frustrating. The only time I get frustrated playing guitar is when I try to tune it...That's it. If I fuck up trying to learn a part of a song for some reason I am so hypnotized by the amusement of playing music that I do it over and over again hundreds of times, and get it right.

Drawing I can't do that with, I don't have the patience. For example I just saw a piece someone is working on of a dragon and a human and landscape and stuff with a shit load of precise cross-hatching and detail that I could never even sketch a thumbnail for. In short, I think I'm taking an extremely long break from drawing. Also, I'd appreciate it if anyone reads this if you could check out what basic little ideas I've made with guitar/piano. Don't expect anything orgasmic, like I said it's almost been ONE YEAR since I even picked a guitar up, but still check it out if you can. [link] Is the music profile.
